I'm hedging a little but here goes....
Everyone has converged on the Tokyo of Megatokyo, for a variety of reasons.
Jake Hunter is there as Special Ops for Intel (intel for Intel? lulz). Thanks to some surgical enhancements, he has better vision than any human and most animals. They were of course, financed by Intel. He is a highly skilled marksman and martial artist.
Warren Bailey is there for specialized martial arts training. His housing arrangements fell through after he'd already arrived, but through a chance meeting with Arisa Kanegawa, he now has a room in her apartment (and no, not HER room, you animals!).
Kristen/Arisa Kanegawa to people in Japan, is there because she was tapped from her position in a Toyota plant in California to be VP of QC and Workflow Efficiency at one of Toyota City's 5 plants, Takaoka. Warren and Sarah live with her, Warren because his original living arrangements fell through, and Sarah for her safety. Paul is her next door neighbor. She isn't terribly impressed with him, and between pulling boneheaded stunts like using script kiddies to try and get her personnel records, and a dangerous habit of personalizing things, her perception hasn't changed...
Arashi Hoshi is there to drain Warrens' wallet...okay not really, but her reason to be there is basically because she rolls with whatever's happening, and at some point, Tokyo landed in her crosshairs.
Paul Thompson is there because he was tapped to be head of Idol security at Cubesoft. Arisa makes him squirm for entertainment and lulz. His girlfriend is one of her co-workers, Ai Tsugimoto.
Sarah Wyndham-Pryce WAS there to have a nice vacation with her parents, but they are now missing and there have so far been two attempts on her life. She and Arisa don't really get along, but she and Warren now live in Arisa's apartment after some developments with Jake led Arisa to believe Sarah would be safer in Sangubashi.
Another one who seems to be faring badly is Michael Castonguay, staying with distant relatives while attending school in Tokyo. Attempts have also been made on his life twice. Both incidents seem to be tied to his thwarting of the first attempt on Sarah's life. The fact that Arisa Kanegawa is responsible for his second rescue only serves to make him more interesting to the goons.
Arisa and her primary nemesis have been thrust directly in each others crosshairs. Asami Ayabito was up for the position Arisa now holds. Having had experience at the plant Arisa is from in California, Toyota couldn't possibly have offended her more, as she thinks almost all foreigners rank slightly above insects, so when Mitsubishi offered her the similar position there, she jumped at it, trying (and failing) to take one of Arisa's team, Fusae Kitabatake, with her.
Now both Mitsubishi and Toyota have been thrust into the Console Wars through deals with Sony and Sega, respectively...
Each is tasked with providing a fleet of specialized vehicles to their respective console makers. If it weren't for the fact that Arisa and her work crew can blow off steam at a divey little club in Shinjuku, madness would surely be descending. _________________ Kristen Andrews / Arisa Kanegawa
